Use floating candle bowls for an elegant design

Use floating candle bowls for an elegant design

It’s often been suggested that the small accent pieces are really what make or break a room’s design. Items like small pictures, a vase filled with fresh flowers and floating candle bowls can transform a drab and mundane room into an appealing showpiece. The key to using any of these items successfully is to know where to place them and when to use them.

Many people don’t realize the potential of using candles when decorating a room. Not only are they inexpensive but they can add a splash of color to a space that may otherwise be drab or a bit boring. If you chose a neutral color, perhaps white or ecru, for your walls, consider adding floating candle bowls with small blue, yellow or pink candles. You can also do the opposite and add elegant, plain white candles to a room that you’ve painted a bright color.

The type of bowl or bowls you choose should reflect the style of the room in general. There’s no denying how elegant a large, clear bowl can look with many small, white candles floating while lit. This looks so lovely during a dinner party when the main lights in the room have been dimmed slightly. You can place this almost anywhere in the room, but consider have two floating candle bowls like this to act as the main centerpieces of your dining table.

If you are decorating a whimsical bedroom, a great and fun idea is to have bowls that are a bit deeper. Fill these with larger round, colored candles. You can choose a whole host of colors, including red, blue, yellow, orange, and purple. Although you likely won’t be lighting these too often, just imagine how great it will look as a focal point in the room, even during the day.

The main room in almost any home is the living or sitting room. This is typically where the entire family gathers to watch television. It’s also the place most people do most of their entertaining. There’s a wide range of floating candle bowls that will look spectacular in a setting like this. One suggestion might be an oval, frosted shallow bowl. These bowls actually can serve a dual purpose. You can use it as a traditional candle bowl and then if you decide you want to change the look of the room, you can always transform it into a container for white stones or even fruit.

Replacing the candles in any bowl is easy and can be done at anytime. You don’t have to wait for the candle to be used up completely before doing this. You’ll want to wash the bowl out from time to time and also refresh the water after each use. This way your floating candle bowls will always look their best.
